The Journey Begins
Before all residents enter the program, it is expected that they will have undergone a five-day detox before arrival at Oceans Thailand. The various detox options will be provided during the assessment.
They must also have a letter from their doctor confirming they are healthy enough to travel and do not suffer from any severe medical conditions, which would prevent them from completing the treatment program or create the need for acute hospitalisation during their program.
After a resident arrives at the airport, they will be welcomed at the entry gate by a team member.
A minor screen test will then be conducted by the team member who will assess whether the resident is ready to go straight into the treatment program, a transitional house or a Private Hospital for medically assisted detox. Residents who might require a medically assisted detox upon arrival will spend up to two to three nights in a Private Hospital depending on their current condition and needs. This is to ensure continuity of care and the resident’s safety as they enter the program.
A thorough biopsychosocial screening takes place for all new admissions upon entering the program to ascertain their immediate needs and concerns. This could be to contact family members or loved ones, take medication, get comfortable in their new surrounds, have a light meal, request specific dietary requirements and take it easy. The resident will then undergo a brief orientation, introduced to their workbooks, other residents, and staff.
Every first arrival day for residents is a grace period where the resident has the option not to engage in the therapeutic work if that is their wish. The new resident will feel comfortable, safe and relaxed. This will be opportunity for new residents to explore the environment, become acquainted with staff and other residents and touch base with loved ones and family members back home.
The staff members provide close monitoring of new residents during the induction phase process.
Family & Loves Ones
Contact with family members and support networks are essential to creating a healthy and stable recovery.
You will have access to the centre’s phones and computers during your personal times. This is to collaborate with other organizations or agencies, build and maintain any support networks or inquirer about any new Recovery Capital possibility.
Family members are also encouraged to visit clients during family times on weekends and especially towards the end of the treatment program.
A smoothest possible transition following treatment is an effective way to help build a stable foundation going forward. Family members and loved ones are encouraged to be involved in the treatment plan as much as possible and accommodation can be arranged for family members close by.
